911 is for emergencies where life or property is in immediate danger or there is a crime in progress
When you dial 911 from a landline, your land location is automatically established at the Yellowhead Regional Emergency Communication Center and the appropriate fire department, police and ambulance will be dispatched.
When you dial 911 from a cell phone, 911 will ask you to provide your rural address and / or land location, detailed directions or any other information required by the operator.
REMEMBER – IF YOU NEED TO CALL 911:
Know your location, stay calm and speak clearly
Be prepared to answer the following questions:
- What is your emergency?
- Do you need fire, police or ambulance?
- What town or city are you calling from?
- What is your exact address and/or closest major intersection?
- What is your name and telephone number?
- Are you safe?
