911 Emergency Response

ALBERTA 9-1-1 (www.alberta.ca/alberta-911-program)

911 is for emergencies where life or property is in immediate danger or there is a crime in progress

When you dial 911 from a landline, your land location is automatically established at the Yellowhead Regional Emergency Communication Center and the appropriate fire department, police and ambulance will be dispatched.

When you dial 911 from a cell phone, 911 will ask you to provide your rural address and / or land location, detailed directions or any other information required by the operator.

REMEMBER – IF YOU NEED TO CALL 911:

Know your location, stay calm and speak clearly

Be prepared to answer the following questions:

  • What is your emergency?
  • Do you need fire, police or ambulance?
  • What town or city are you calling from?
  • What is your exact address and/or closest major intersection?
  • What is your name and telephone number?
  • Are you safe?
