The County of Wetaskiwin’s non-profit Economic Development Organization, JEDI, is pleased to announce that its new 14-foot by 48-foot digital LED billboard is now fully operational near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 616.
The sign is the result of a Joint Venture between JEDI and VueTronic Inc. of Edmonton.
“Out of home digital advertising not only provides us with an innovative revenue stream,” said County Reeve Josh Bishop, “but having an electronic billboard allows us to help promote local business and events as well.”
Located just north of the Highway 2 and Highway 616 intersection, the sign is highly visible to southbound traffic and is expected to reach more than 33,000 motorists each day and will help raise the profile of national and local businesses.
“We’re pleased to partner with JEDI,” Bill Shepansky, co-owner of VueTronic, Inc. said. “Our expertise in the design and construction of LED billboards means we can provide a reliable and state of the art product,” he continued. “We’ve done a number of large LED projects, including Commonwealth Stadium, and we’re eager to use our knowledge on this new project.”
“We understand we can’t keep going back to the ratepayer,” Reeve Bishop said, “we need to find other ways of generating revenue while supporting our businesses and tourism operators. This sign allows us to do just that.” The cost of the sign, along with its installation and operation, will be shared equally between the partners, as will revenues that come from ad sales. “We’re grateful to everyone who helped us make this project happen” Reeve Bishop added, “from the landowner to the approval agencies and especially Fortis Alberta.”
The partnership welcomes interest from businesses across the region looking to showcase their products and services to thousands of daily commuters.
The Leduc, Nisku, Wetaskiwin Regional Chamber of Commerce is partnering with JEDI to offer Chamber members exclusive discounted rates on advertising.
