Garbage & Recycling Collection
New Curbside & Transfer Station Recycling Program
The County of Wetaskiwin is pleased to announce the launch of a new recycling program through Alberta's provincial recycling program, managed by Circular Materials.
Beginning October 1, 2026, residents who currently receive County curbside garbage collection will also receive curbside bagged recycling collection every second week. Transfer station recycling is also anticipated to begin October 1, 2026, at all County transfer stations.
Important Dates:
- Thursday, October 1: Curbside collection begins for Mulhurst Bay and Lakeland Estates.
- Thursday, October 1: Recycling is anticipated to be available at all County transfer stations.
- Monday, October 5: Curbside collection begins for Alder Flats, Buck Lake, Gwynne, Winfield, Wizard Lake, Curilane Beach, Westerose/Viola Beach, Beachside Estates, and Woodwind Estates.

Have your bags set out by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. Holidays may affect your collection schedule.

Recycling Preparation Guidelines
To ensure materials are accepted and collected:
- Rinse containers before recycling.
- Labels do not need to be removed.
- Place recyclables in clear or blue transparent bags.
- Place recycling bags at your normal collection location.
- Leave at least one metre (three feet) between recycling bags and garbage carts, vehicles, and any other obstacles.
What Can Be Recycled?
Accepted materials include many household paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, and beverage container products accepted through Alberta's recycling system.

Garbage Collection Schedule
Waste will always be collected on Statutory Holiday Mondays unless otherwise notified.

Cart Placement & Guidelines
- Please bag materials in the waste cart provided by Integrity Waste Solutions.
- Place your cart curbside on your collection day by 7 a.m.
- Ensure 1m (4 ft) clearance all around and above cart (including between carts and bags and parked cars).
- Face carts to roadway, spaced appropriately using all available space to either side of driveways and cars.
Any waste not meeting the above guidelines will not be picked up.
Stuck Materials
Residents are asked to be responsible for loading carts in a manner that allows carts to empty freely when inverted. Collection operators are not responsible for jammed materials.
Additional Bagged Garbage
This pick up is for household bagged waste only and does not include items left outside the carts. These items will not be picked up and must be taken to the nearest transfer station for disposal.
Solid Waste Collection Fees
All lots defined as Residential Premises are eligible for waste collection and will be charged a monthly collection fee of $23.06.
All utilities are billed bi-monthly and utility invoices are sent out according to the utility billing schedule.
There is no additional cost to residents for the new recycling program.
