[ARCHIVED] Cruise Mode Pilot Project

2015 Shoulder Flash

Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed the County of Wetaskiwin Peace Officers patrolling your neighbourhoods with their red and blue lights activated. No, the Officers did not forget to turn their lights off. This is a Pilot Project initiated by the Protective Services Department to increase visibility in rural areas of the County, particularly in subdivisions. Our Community Peace Officers strategically illuminate one red and one blue to the rear of the patrol vehicles that will not be flashing. This Project is to increase visibility in the rural areas at night to let people know their area is being patrolled. The County has heard that Officers are not typically seen in various areas of the County and we have taken that to heart and have became more visible, so keep an eye out for your local Community Peace Officers on patrol in a more visible fashion.
