[ARCHIVED] Check Out ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc on Youtube

ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc Videos

ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc participants and volunteers created videos to highlight projects and celebrate the over 1000 acres enrolled in ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc over six seasons. ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc’s video playlist has been created on ALUS Canada’s YouTube channel.

Local participants Dan Liddle and Larry Zieger describe their ALUS projects and highlight the positive benefits their projects bring to their operations and the local environment.

Dan is in the County of Wetaskiwin and ALUS provides him with the tools he needs to meet goals for his farm, lifestyle, and the land. Larry’s project is in Leduc County, and he speaks on solar off-site watering systems for his cattle. He has seen benefits of protected and enhanced natural areas, improved animal health and water quality.

An anniversary video was created to highlight the ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc program. Find out more about how ALUS works and why the program was brought to the community. Along with Dan and Larry, many local project pictures are featured, along with comments from coordinator Kim Barkwell and other county staff. “Farmers put food on our table, and they look after natural spaces that benefit all of society…I’m proud of ALUS because it supports and recognizes our local farmers’ efforts!” says Kim.  Leduc County’s Agricultural Foreman put it this way: “To me, ALUS is a way to provide power to the farmer to make right decisions when it comes to thinking about the environment on their land.”

Finally, ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc hosted and recorded Six Years and Growing, an online event to recognize work accomplished so far with an eye to the future. This video provides a more in-depth understanding of ALUS Wetaskiwin-Leduc and showcases the anniversary video. Looking ahead, we learn about Enhanced Grazing with ALUS from Christine Campbell, Senior Hub Manager, ALUS Western Hub. Finally, we are treated to a glimpse of farming adventures in the Yukon with keynote speaker Léona Watson.
