Fire Permit Application

  1. Fire permits are required during Fire Season from March 1 to October 31.


    Permits for the Forest Protection area can be obtained from Alberta Agriculture & Forestry at 403-845-8250. View the Fire Protection Zones Map.

  2. Are you burning stubble or swaths?

    If yes, please exit this form and contact Stephen Majek, Director of Agricultural Services at 780-361-6226 or email for a Stubble Burning Permit. These permits are issued on an individual basis and a site inspection must be performed.  

  3. Fire Permit

    Other than a campfire or burning barrel, any person lighting an open fire for burning debris or any other purpose must have a valid fire permit.

  5. Are you burning less than 1 mile from a primary or secondary highway? *

    If yes, place smoke ahead signs for both directions on the highway.

  6. Fire Permit Regulations

    Every Person who sets a fire under authority of a permit shall: (section 11.7 of the Fire Bylaw) 

    11.7.1 keep the Fire Permit at the site of the fire;

    11.7.2 produce and show the Fire Permit to a Fire Guardian, a Member, or a Peace Officer upon request;

    11.7.3 have a responsible person in attendance at the fire at all times;

    11.7.4 keep the fire under control;

    11.7.5 extinguish the fire before expiration of the Fire Permit or upon cancellation of the Fire Permit; and

    11.7.6 be responsible for any costs incurred by the Fire Department when called upon to extinguish such fire if, in the opinion of the Fire Chief or their designate, the fire is the result of gross negligence or in any way in contravention of this Bylaw.

    This permit authorizes the applicant to kindle fires on the designated lands within the indicated division for the indicated purpose. 

    This permit is valid for 10 days from the date of submission and may be cancelled at any time in the event of a Fire Ban or Fire Restriction.
