Position Summary

The County of Wetaskiwin is seeking a permanent part-time Transfer Station Attendant for the Mulhurst Transfer Station. Reporting to the Utilities Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for operation of the Mulhurst Solid Waste Transfer Station.

Regular hours of work are Tuesdays and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursdays, Seasonal May 1 – October 31, 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. or as required.

Responsibilities

Maintain records of transfer station users.
Direct user where to dispose of solid waste.
Assist with enforcement of the transfer station and landfill rules and regulations.
Ensure hazardous/environmental waste and recyclables are segregated properly.
Keeping the transfer station tidy and clear of waste while reporting irregularities or damages.
Opening and closing of site.
Complete quarterly site inspections.

Requirements

The successful candidate will:

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Be available for all scheduled site openings.
Deal with the public in a professional manner.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
Must have a cellular phone.
Provide own transportation to and from work site.

Salary Grid as per IUOE Collective Agreement of $27.25 to $30.28 per hour.
