By-law Enforcement

County of Wetaskiwin Community Peace Officers and the By-law Enforcement Officer enforce many of the County By-laws.  Besides the Land-Use By-Law, the two By-laws that are enforced by Community Peace Officers the majority of the time are the Noise By-law #96/54 and the Public Assemblies By-law #86/11.

The Noise By-law #96/54 prevents and compels the abatement of noise and nuisances in urban residential, country residential,  restricted country residential, or lakeshore residential and those parts of the municipality within one kilometre of such land within the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10.  This By-law outlines the types of noises or nuisances, regulations and penalties associated with an alleged breach of the By-law, up to and including a violation ticket.   For the full Noise By-law #96/54, please see the attached link.

The Public Assemblies By-law #86/11 provides for the regulation and control of public assemblies (a collection of human beings in the same place for the same purpose) within the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10. This By-law outlines the regulations, and penalties of the Public Assembly By-law.  This By-law also outlines the direction for applying to County Council for authorization to hold a public assembly within the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10.  For the full Public Assemblies By-law #86/11, please see the attached link.

The County of Wetaskiwin Bylaw Enforcement Officer, Janeanne Voltner enforces all by-laws.  The focus of the department in 2008 will be a review of special land designations such as Municipal Reserves, Environmental Reserves and Watershed Protection areas.  As well, complaints regarding unsightly premises will be dealt with in a more timely manner.
